Artist spotlight

Guillermo Marigliano is an Argentine guitarist, composer and bandleader, born in Buenos Aires and based in Los Angeles. For Americana listeners, Marigliano offers a route into the wider musical landscape of the Americas. His repertoire shares the attachment to place, inherited melodies and individual expression that gives roots music its enduring appeal. Argentine chamamé and chacarera carry their own regional histories, just as the folk and blues traditions of the United States carry theirs. Jazz provides a meeting point, giving his interpretations room for improvisation and discovery.

For more than two decades he has carried the music of South America on the guitar: Argentine tango and milonga, chamamé and chacarera, Brazilian choro, boleros and his own compositions, played with the freedom of an improviser.

He trained at the Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea (ITMC) in Buenos Aires, earning certificates in guitar and in arranging and composition, and later taught there for more than ten years as a professor of harmony, guitar improvisation and chord melody. He has given lessons and workshops in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia and Belgium, and is the author of four guitar method books, including Tango Guitar Method.

His career has taken him to the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival, the International Jazz Festival in Armenia, Colombia, the Malinas International Music Fest in Belgium, Folk Alliance International in 2025 and 2026, and Fête de la Musique Los Angeles. Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship has recognized his work as being "of high artistic and cultural interest" for the promotion of Argentine culture abroad. In Southern California he performs as a solo artist and with the Marigliano Quartet, from concert stages to intimate rooms across Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.

Latin Soul Vol. II, his tenth album, arrives November 20, 2026. The six-track EP for nylon-string guitar follows Latin Soul (2025). It brings together pieces by Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Astor Piazzolla, Alfredo Gobbi, João Pernambuco and Julián Plaza, alongside "Opi," an original built on chamamé and chacarera rhythms that evokes the landscapes of Argentina's Litoral at sunset.

Every piece he plays is an invitation to listen closely to the stories the guitar carries.
